Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

How MFA is setup?

You will be prompted set up your MFA the first time you log in to CRIIS, or following an MFA reset. 

Select your preferred authentication method, choosing from the following free MFA apps that can be used: 

• Authy Authenticator.
• Microsoft Authenticator. 

In your mobile device download and/or open your preferred app, scan the QR code displayed or enter the code manually. 

Once CRIIS has linked to your app, the 6-digit verification codes will be generated in the app.

This means every time you sign-in, you will be prompted to enter your 6-digit verification code. 

Why is MFA required?

To keep all users safe on CRIIS, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is required. MFA adds extra security by asking for a code from your device in addition to your password. Even if someone gains access to your password, they can’t access your account without the code sent to your device.

The additional layer of authentication helps keep your personal information protected.

What if I need to change the Registered Device?

If you want to change the mobile device you are using to authenticate: 

1. Sign in to your account. 
2. Click on your profile page.
3. Scroll down the page to get to the 'Multi-factor authentication' section. 
4. Select 'Change the registered authentication device' and follow the on-screen prompts. 

What if I lost my Registered Device?

If you've lost your registered device or authenticator app and cannot continue to sign in, you can reset your authenticator. 

1. Click reset authenticator.
2. A pop-up will ask you to confirm resetting your MFA. Click reset.
3. You’ll receive an email at the address linked to your CRIIS account.
4. Open the email and click the link provided (or copy and paste it into your browser).
5. The link will take you to a page where you need to enter a verification code from the email. Enter the code and click reset.
6. Your MFA will be reset, and you’ll be prompted to sign-in.
