The CRIIS and your identification

This guide explains how to register using the Document Verification Service (DVS).

When registering as a Contractor on CRIIS, you must verify your identity.

Identity verification helps maintain a trusted environment, protect users against fraud, and ensures that only verified users can register as contractors in CRIIS.

How are my details verified?

The CRIIS uses the Document Verification Service to verify your chosen identity document directly with the issuer. You only require access to one (1) form of verifiable identification (such as a valid Australian driver licence).

What documents can I use to verify my identity?

Accepted forms of Australian government issued identification include: 

Verification didn't work, what do I do now?

If your identity document did not verify successfully: 

• check that all mandatory fields are completed. 
• check that the information entered is as it appears on the identity document. If you only have one name, then enter your name into the 'last name' field and a hyphen ‘–’ must be entered into the Given Name field. 

You could also try a different identity document. Tips for verification success are included above for each accepted document type. 

What if my name has an accent?

Characters with accents (diacritic) need to be converted to standard English characters.
