This guide explains how to register as a contractor on CRIIS using the Document Verification Service (DVS).
You’ll need to verify your identity to confirm who you are. This helps protect your personal information and ensures secure access to the platform.

How to register?
Before you start
Make sure you have access to one (1) of the following official Australian Government issued identity documents:
- Driver licence
- Australian passport
- Citizenship certificate
- Australian visa
- ImmiCard
- Birth certificate
⚠️ Note: The document you use must belong to you.
The document you choose will be used to verify your identity through the DVS.
Part A: Verify your email address
To begin your registration as a contractor in CRIIS, you need to verify your email address.
Steps to follow
- Go to the CRIIS sign-in page.
- Select New Contractor Registration. You can also use the button below to go straight there.
- Enter your personal email address.
- CRIIS will send an email to that address with the next steps.
After submitting your email check your inbox for the verification email. If you don’t see it, check your Spam or Junk folders.
📌Important: Your CRIIS ID and profile will be linked to the email you use. Use a personal email address that only you can access. You shouldn't use a work email address. You cannot use a shared email address.
Part B: Complete the registration form
After verifying your email, you’ll be taken to the Contractor Registration form.
Steps to follow
- Enter your details in the form. You must enter your name as it appears on your identity document.
- Open the page by selecting the hyperlink to read the Terms of Use and Privacy Statement, then tick the box to accept them.
- Select Next to continue.
- Enter your date of birth in the format dd/mm/yyyy, as shown on your identity document.
- Add your address, using the search tool. If your address is not found, tick ‘My Address is unlisted’. You can update this later in your profile settings.
- Select Register to complete your registration.
Part C: Verify your identity
After completing registration, you’ll need to verify your identity.
We use the Document Verification Service (DVS) to check your details. This service compares your information with official government records.
You don’t need to upload photos or copies of your documents. Just type in the details exactly as they appear on your ID.
Steps to follow
- Choose your document type (e.g. a driver licence or passport).
- Enter your details. Make sure they match your document.
- Tick the consent box. This gives us permission to check your details.
- Select submit. We’ll check your information straight away.

Part D: Sign in
After you verify your identity, you’ll be asked to sign in.
Use the email address you registered with and the password you created.
First time signing in? Set up MFA.
When you sign in for the first time, you’ll be asked to set up multi-factor authentication (MFA). This adds extra security to your account.
